The relations between Tunisia and the EU are defined by the Association Agreement, signed in 1995, the Action Plan for the Privileged Partnership, and  the Joint Communication of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the European Commission: “Renforcer le soutien de l’UE à la Tunisie”, underlining the determination of the EU to further support Tunisia.

SIGMA, the EC and the Tunisian authorities agreed a work programme in September 2018 that gives priority in the period to June 2019 to co-operating with:

  • The Presidency of the Government, Public Programme Monitoring Authority, on the development of a monitoring framework for major reforms.

  • The Presidency of the Government, Directorate General for Civil Service, on civil service reform, especially the development of a specific senior civil service system.

  • The Court of Accounts on consolidating the Court's audit activities with international standards, especially in the area of compliance audits.
