Transforming the public sector in Albania

SIGMA co-organised a high-level event with the State Minister for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption of Albania.

On 4 February 2025, Gregor Virant, Lech Marcinkowski and Timo Ligi traveled to Tirana. The event started with opening remarks delivered by Minister Adea Pirdeni, Mr Gregor Virant, Mr Andre Rizzo from the EU Delegation in Tirana and Prime Minister Edi Rama, followed by the presentation of the results of the SIGMA 2024 Monitoring Report for Albania.

On 5 February, Gregor Virant participated at a separate discussion at the Council of Ministers, focused on the  findings from the report and future co-operation ideas.

Albania remains a strong regional performer in public administration reform.
