After its declaration of independence in 2008, Kosovo* became a potential candidate for EU accession. In early May 2014, Kosovo concluded talks on a Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU, which sees public administration reform as a priority. The SAA was signed in 2015 and entered into force on 1 April 2016. Kosovo formally submitted an application for membership to the EU on 15 December 2022.SIGMA is currently working with:
* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244/99 and the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice on Kosovo’s declaration of independence. |
